Mayor Regis Labeaume's current business is politics, but he says business is what helped him arrive where he is today.

The mayor last week addressed a gathering of the P.W. Sims business school at St. Lawrence College in Ste. Foy. The event highlighted several former Sims students who are now studying at Griffith University, where they will receive their business degrees.

Several students now enrolled at Griffith spoke via video hookup from Australia where they noted the considerably warmer climate during what is now summer made for an interesting adjustment.

The mayor offered encouraging words to the event at a school where enrollment has doubled in the past year, offering business training as well as introducing francophone students to English language world of business.

The college is named for Philip William Sims, an executive who joined the Price Brothers Company during the Great Depression in what was then the tallest building in Quebec City, known in French as Edifice Price, and a well known philanthropist.
