Admiring the memorial plaque to German soldiers who fought on the British side during the American Revolution are, from left to right, Jacques Dorval, President of the Quebec Historcial Society; Jean-Pierre Wilhelmy, historian and writer; Dr. Aylmer Ebacher-Baker, President of the Ebacher-Baker Family Association, Richard G.R. Brabander, coordinator of the advisory committee of the German Community of Montreal, and Daniel Petit, Member of Parliament, representing the Charlesbourg-Haute Saint Charles riding.

It was a match born out of necessity - manpower shortages on one side, lack of money on the other.

"The British didn't have the men, but had the money" said Dr. Aylmer Baker-Ebacher. "In Germany, they had the men, but they needed money."
