The Lions represented the Eastern Division along side of players from the Philadelphia Thunder and the Wooster Oilers. The Eastern All–Stars overpowered the Western team 11-4 with an impressive Canadian domination that will long be remembered by players and fans alike. Grimard (3 goals 3 assists), Litalien (1 goal 5 assists) and Sansfacon (3 goals 4 assists) notoriously known as the “French connection” scored 7 of the teams’ 11 goals. Geoffery Stowe added another Canadian goal. The timing was excellent for our players to showcase their talent in the presence of several division 1 and 3 college recruiters. The fans sat in awe as the puck moved with speed and accuracy up and across the ice, often ending in masterpiece moments that could definitely find their way to the TSN Highlights of the Night. Forward and team Captain David Grimard was selected as MVP of the All-Star game with honorable mention going to line mates Francois Litalien and Jean Philippe Sansfacon.

Coach Labadie was excited about the showcase championship and All-Star victory. We set a standard of performance that is a benchmark for future teams to follow. Showcase organizers and several fans commented on our team’s structure and the joy experienced by our players on and off the ice. Unfortunately, several talented players from the Saint Lawrence Lions roster did not take part in the All Star game but showed tremendous team chemistry by supporting their teammates with enthusiastic chants that have become a tradition at the Bell Centre in Montreal. This weekend, Saint Lawrence was the show on the ice, in the bleachers and in the hearts of our American fans and partners.

The Lions record for the season, including exhibition games is 22 wins 9 losses and 2 ties. They hold a 1 point lead over team Ulysse in first place of the Northern division of the UJHL. The remainder of the regular season will provide a real challenge for the Lions as they will face Northern division opponents. Lions’ next official home game will take place January 31st at 7 PM at Activital in Saint Augustin.
