A Christmas mishap

Christmas Memories

One of my favourite Christmas Memories, takes me back to Patrick Street. Mom had spent many hours making Christmas cookies. Mom was known for her large variety of cookies. They were all sorted out and placed in tin cookie cans and then placed on a shelf on the wall of the staircase leading down to the basement, where my older brother had his bedroom. We usually had to wait for Christmas to taste these cookies.

During the night, my brother got up and decided to open a can to take a few cookies. Well, you can just imagine the clatter, as our whole family woke up and jumped out of bed, as all the cookie tins fell down the stairs, rolling from one step to the next.

That Christmas we had lots of broken cookie crumbs to nibble on instead of Mom's fancy Christmas cookies.
