Do you know any young, successful English-speakers in the Québec Chaudière-Appalaches region? The answer is YEESS!! (Youth Employment and Educational Success Stories).

Many young, English-speaking adults have been moving out of the region after completing their secondary education, saying that there aren’t any opportunities for them here. YEESS!! has been created to show everyone that this is not the case.

Starting today, application and nomination forms are available for English-speaking youth (between the ages of 18 and 35), who have had professional, personal, or educational success. Once the forms are in, the selection committee will choose the top 26 nominees. Next, each of the top YEESS!! candidates will be profiled and presented to both the French and English Quebec population through a vast media promotional campaign.

In August of 2009, a gala will be hosted for these 26 successful youth, where they will be presented awards. The best way to encourage other youth to stay, move to, or return to the Québec Chaudière-Appalaches region is to promote the ones we have and show examples of the success they have experienced.

“We have many great role models here, and it is time to get their stories out to the public!” Denise Caughey, YEESS!! Coordinator explained. “I have learned, firsthand, that there are so many opportunities for young English-speakers here, and I am excited to show everyone what others have accomplished!”

YEESS!! is an initiative of the Community Partner Group and is funded by Forum jeunesse régional Chaudière-Appalaches and Forum jeunesse de la région de la Capitale-Nationale.
