Alexandre is a writer, researcher, musician, teacher, movie-maker and journalist. When he finds the time, he’s also quite fond of cooking and cycling. Born in Quebec City’s St. Louis de France parish in 1983, he had the chance of growing up in a bilingual setting, having a Francophone mother and an Anglophone father.

Danielle Burns hails from the “Paris of the Prairies,” Saskatoon. She first came to Quebec as a French-language student in 1996. She met a bush pilot from Lévis during a summer job at a luxury fishing lodge in Northern Saskatchewan. Her friends were not surprised that she ended up with a Québécois since she was so gung-ho about all things French!

Memorial Service for Jack Layton to be held at Chalmers-Wesley United Church

Most of us know that Jack Layton was a Quebec resident from Hudson, but perhaps many of us don’t know that he was also a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada. The Session of Chalmers-Wesley United Church was approached by members of the local New Democratic Party who requested the opportunity to hold a memorial service reflecting Mr. Layton’s own religious background.

Public hearings on proposed federal electoral map for Quebec

Montreal- The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Quebec is set to hold public hearings on the new federal electoral map it recently proposed. The commission makes final decisions about where the electoral boundaries will be located after consultation, giving the public and members of Parliament an opportunity to express their views and participate in the process.
