Last Thursday, June 21, was the celebration of two events - National Aboriginal Day and the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

For generations, many aboriginal peoples have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near the summer solstice. In 1982 the Assembly of First Nations called for the creation of June 21 as National Aboriginal Solidarity Day.
