Meet Andrew Johnson: principal percussion with the OSQ

Principal percussion Andrew Johnson is a mover and a shaker. Here he stands amid the many instruments that he taps, hits, shakes or scrapes such as xylophones, marimbas, Chinese gongs, triangles, bongos, chimes, bass drums, kettle drums, snare drums, cymbals, maracas – and more. For the Hollywood 4 concert, five percussionists played the various instruments onstage, including an anvil!

As many of you know, I sing with the choir of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec (OSQ). At our last two concerts – La Symphonie du Jeu Vidéo and Hollywood 4 – At our last two concerts – La Symphonie du Jeu Vidéo and Hollywood 4 – in the orchestra’s percussion section, which is usually behind all the other musicians, directly in front of the choir, I noticed a new face.
