On December 12th, 2010, I will attempt the trek up to Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro in support of UNICEF. The climb will take 6 days, and will take me to a height of 5896 meters. My goal is to raise money to install water pumps for entire communities, reducing the time that women and children spend collecting water, and thus increasing the likelihood of children attending school. I have reached 69% of my goal so far.

Climbing Kilimanjaro will be a great life challenge for me, especially after reconstructive knee surgery in August 2010 following a rugby injury. Being a passionate rugby player and all-round avid athlete, there was no way I could stay put for long. I am thankful for this opportunity to come back to sport and to achieve this goal while raising money for children in need.
