In 1950, up-and-coming New York photojournalist Lida Moser was commissioned by Vogue magazine to produce a report on Quebec. In the summer of that year, she traversed the province from Montreal to Quebec City, Charlevoix and the Gaspé, the Côte-du-Sud to Montérégie, visiting Île aux Coudres, Île d'Orléans, and the Bas-Saint-Laurent along the way.
