Jean Vanier founded L’Arche, a network of homes for people with mental handicaps.

On May 7, Jean Vanier, a Canadian philosopher, theologian and humanitarian, passed away. Vanier helped change the world’s perception of people with developmental disabilities.

A Companion of the Order of Canada, a Grand Officer of the Order of Quebec and a recipient of the Templeton Prize, Jean Vanier spent most of his life quietly helping others, not looking for accolades.
