The Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph is a proud sponsor of the Community Christmas Hamper Campaign

November is a busy time for the organizing committee of the Community Christmas Hamper Campaign, which this year runs from Sunday, November 20, to Sunday, December 11. Activities and fundraising events organized in support of the 21st annual Community Hamper Campaign are in full swing.

This year, thanks to a donation from a long-time partner of the campaign, Mathieu Blouin of Emballages Aubut Inc., a new fundraising initiative will take place. Santa will be selling some of his elves (in the form of dolls) as ambassadors for the campaign! The elves will be available for a donation of $20, every dime of which goes to the campaign's budget for perishable foods for the 200 families we hope to reach this year.

What better place to launch the sale of Santa's elves than the International Lunch? And if you can't come to the Lunch, you can reserve your elf by contacting Ed Sweeney at 418 575-1414.

The Eastern Québec Learning Centre hosts the International Lunch, a yearly fundraising event for the campaign. It takes place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, in the school cafeteria. Staff and students are pleased to prepare this gastronomical delight which this year features African food. All are welcome, and all proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the campaign. Tickets cost $15. If you want to reserve, contact [email protected]. We anticipate over 100 people will come and enjoy the meal prepared by Mika Takahashi, backed by her team and by students from the Hotel Reception program.

For the second year, the EQLC is proud to be the host site for the Community Christmas Hamper Campaign operations. Preparation of the hampers begins at the school on Wednesday, December 14, and continues until delivery on Saturday, December 17. If you would like to donate your time, money or non-perishable goods, please consult the bilingual CCHC website at qchampers.ca

The Community Christmas Hamper Campaign organizing committee thanks all community members for their support, whether from near or far. Donations can be made in the weeks and months leading up to the campaign and now on a year-round basis, you may do that on the above-mentioned website.

Help support a worthy cause, help deliver some goodness!
