"Fallen Comrades"

used with permission of the artist, Silvia Pecota

Dedicated to the soldiers of 3PPCLI;
Sgt. Marc Leger, Cpl. Ainsworth Dyer,
Pte. Richard Green, Pte. Nathan Smith
who were killed on April 18, 2002 in Afghanistan.

As a retired soldier myself who served his country for over 20 years throughout the world, making constant professional and personal sacrifices, placing my own life in the line of fire on hundreds of occassions, I do not ask for remembrance for what I gave freely because those closest to me remember and witnessed my life and that's remembrance enough for me.

However, remembrance towards our fallen soldiers who sacrificed their own lives at the expense of giving us the very freedoms and liberties we exercise today and most take for granted I think, should be every Canadians priority. This is one way to pay respects to our fallen who are not with us today to share in what they sacrificed their lives to protect. What did you do on Novemebr 11, 2007? I went to the nearest Memorial cross in this Great City during my work break and said a prayer, while others went to watch a toy parade!!!!

Taking the time out of one day in 365 days in a year to bow our heads and say Thank You to our FALLEN SOLDIERS would be an appropriate expression of " We Remember " We remember because we have the freedom to remember!!

(Oh yes! and to play with toys as well!)
