McGOLDRICK, John (Brossard QC) — Died suddenly on his way back from Florida, March 16, 2008, at the age of 81, husband of the late Eileen Kelly and father of Michael (Lucie Napert) of Ottawa, Larry of Montreal, and Donny (Mina Saunders) of Toronto, grandfather of Curniss and Garren.

A “big chunk” of one of four granite pinnacles on the Chalmers-Wesley Church spire came crumbling down during the wind and snow that whipped Quebec City on the night of March 8.

Tartan Day 2008 will take place on Sunday, April 6. The festivities will begin with the Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Rue Cook, in old Quebec. This is a religious service that will include a blessing of the tartans.

Voice of English-speaking Québec has surpassed its ticket sales target for the May 18 gala event to celebrate Quebec City’s 400th anniversary.
“We’re very excited,” said VEQ executive director Helen Walling. “We’ve sold over 550. Our objective was to sell over 500 by the end of March.”
