Donnelly steps down from VEQ Klassen takes on job

Voice of English-speaking Québec (VEQ) president Bob Donnelly has resigned. Donnelly has been wearing two rather large hats since being elected president of the Quebec Community Groups Network last June. He will remain a member of the executive.

Godin to head St-Foy School

Denise Godin will take on the job of principal of Ste-Foy Elementary School. She will succeed Micheline Gagné who officially begins at Everest as principal on February 1.

Godin currently occupies the position of special needs consultant at the Central Québec School Board. Previously she held the post of staff assistant and before that Godin taught at Ste-Foy Elementary.

Lions Hockey travels to Pennsylvania and New Jersey

During the weekend of January 11, the St. Lawrence Lions hockey team travelled to Philadelphia and New Jersey to play two prep school teams. The team left on January 11 in the wee hours of the morning, in the direction of Philadelphia, Pa.

Central Québec receives MELS funds to renovate its schools

The Central Québec School Board has received $1,086,000 from the provincial Ministry of Education, Recreation and Sport (MELS) to proceed with maintaining its buildings. School boards across the province got a piece of the $30 billion pie, part of the government’s five-year infrastructure plan.

QCT changes are disappointing

The Publisher’s Note on Page 4 of the most recent edition of the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph (Wednesday, January 16, 2008), acknowledged that changes have been occurring in the newspaper over the last few months under your ownership.

It confirmed what readers, including myself, have noticed: fewer and fewer articles and more and more advertising.
