Studying English-speaking teens in Quebec City is far from cut and dry
Researchers at Université Laval have conducted an unprecedented study of Quebec City’s English-speaking teens. In extended interviews with 29 students from Quebec High School and St. Patrick’s High School, Laval social scientists examined what it’s like to be a member of a minority linguistic community in Quebec City.
Fraser wants feds to produce an action plan
and to show leadership in offering bilingual services
Canada’s commissioner of official languages, Graham Fraser, wants answers from the government on three specific topics. The first is the next phase of its Action Plan for Official Languages, due in March. Then Fraser said he wants to see “the leadership necessary to increase bilingualism in federal offices and improve the role of linguistic duality in public service renewal.”

Valcartier troops receive holiday wishes from Uxbridge
The Valcartier Family Centre received a magnificent Christmas card
addressed to our soldiers deployed in Afghanistan and to members of
their families.
The card is from the residents of Uxbridge, a town situated 45 km north of Toronto.

Museum unveils restored portrait of Father Patrick McMahon
Amid details of 400th anniversary projects at the Musée national des Beaux-Arts du Quebec, a finely restored portrait that records a bit of Quebec City’s Irish history was revealed.
