Announced closure of Marine Rescue sub-centres causes wave of concern

The recent closure of a Quebec City Marine Rescue sub-centre stirs up concerns about local expertise and rescue efforts

The announced consolidation of two Marine Rescue Coordination sub-centres in Quebec City and Newfoundland and Labrador incited harsh criticism amongst rescue staff and local fishermen. The sub-centres, which coordinate response efforts to incident calls will merge with existing Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centres in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Trenton, Ontario.
